Future International Students

Trent University and Canada

Choosing to study in Canada is a big decision, but you should feel secure knowing Canada is a safe country with a reputation for celebrating diversity and a long history of welcoming students from all over the world. Canada's investments in health, education, and other social programs provide an exceptional standard of living. In fact, we have been recognized for more than a decade by the United Nations as one of the most liveable countries in the world. Clean, multicultural cities and astounding areas of protected natural beauty - Canada offers you the chance to live in one of the world's most innovative countries with all the space you need to grow and learn properly.

Trent is located in beautiful Peterborough, a small city of 76,000 located in the Kawartha Lakes District of Ontario, Canada's most populous province. Peterborough is the ideal student city, with a vibrant nightlife, exceptional theatre and music opportunities, an array of eclectic shops, bookstores, cafes, restaurants, and clubs, as well as being the gateway to unmatched opportunities for hiking, mountain-biking, canoeing, kayaking, or skiing the many hills, trails, lakes and rivers that make up the Kawartha Lakes, one of the most beautiful natural areas in North America. The city itself is diverse and very welcoming, and our students feel secure knowing they will find their own rhythm and routine in a community of this size, whatever their passions or interests.

Trent's main Symons campus is a reflection of our privileged location. The largest campus in Canada, at 1450 acres, the Symons campus will provide you with an intimate residential experience set amidst the splendour and wonder of old growth forests, nature areas, and rolling hills. Hike one of our many trails, hop on a bike, or learn to canoe - at Trent, you'll get a taste of the true Canadian outdoors.

All this, and you will be reassured to know that Peterborough is strategically located next to Canada's largest cities. We are just 90 minutes from Toronto, Canada's largest city, and a few hours from the national's capital, Ottawa, and Montreal. New York, Boston, Washington, and Chicago are each about an hour flight from Toronto. Toronto is a vibrant, multi-cultural city of almost 5 million. Being close to Toronto provides you with easy access to the many cultural communities of a large city and makes transportation to and from your home country very easy, thanks to Toronto's Pearson Airport.
