WIFI Assist Could Cost You Money
Tuesday, October 6, 2015
The new mobile operating system for iPhones and iPads (iOS 9) introduced a feature called Wi-Fi Assist. The feature is designed to give users a more seamless experience when connected to a wireless network where the signal is weak or unreliable. To do this, the device will automatically switch to using a data connection whenever the user is connected to a spotty Wi-Fi network. For users without an unlimited data package, the use of this feature could result in substantial overage charges.
How to turn off Wi-Fi Assist:
- Go into Settings
- Choose Cellular
- Scroll down to Wi-Fi Assist
- Switch the slider to the "Off" position
