Microsoft Updates for Windows 7/Office 2013

Please note: no change or impact to Trent Faculty and Staff with Mac’s; Windows XP or non-Trent imaged Window7 users.

What is the impact:

Windows 7 and Office 2013 updates

When:

Commencing Monday, March 3, 2014

The process for you to receive regular Windows 7 and Office 2013 updates will begin Monday, March 3rd, 2014. These critical updates are necessary to protect your system from vulnerabilities to malware and security exploits. In addition, updates provide stability and feature enhancements to Microsoft Office 2013 and support the ongoing transition to Office 365.

For those of you who have recently upgraded to the Trent Windows 7 image:

Please expect the first update to run in the background for up to 80 minutes.  Future updates will be regular and expected to take less time to install. Please note: Your computer must be on to receive the updates and upon completion you will be prompted to reboot.

For anyone with a non-Trent imaged Windows 7 computer:

Please note the default Windows update setting is set to update automatically.  If you have changed the default and wish to turn on automatic updates please see instructions here .
