Before retiring as Professor Emeritus, Dr. Stuart Robson was a member of the Trent History Department. One of his research interests is the First World War, and he has written a number of books on the subject.
Prof. Robson’s “contagious enthusiasm” and “capacity to treat students with dignity” was praised by the students who nominated him for the Symons Award for Excellence in Teaching.
Over the course of 35 years of teaching at Trent, Prof. Robson both inspired his students and was inspired by his students. He has commented that he learned a lot about the First World War and World War II from his students, particularly those who were veterans of World War II.
