- Symons Award for Excellence in Teaching (2000-01)
Dr. Richard Hurley has been a professor of Computer Science/Studies both in Peterborough and at Trent in Oshawa for a number of years. In the past he has served as chair of the department.
Students have referred to Prof. Hurley as a dedicated teacher who brings to the classroom a commitment to education and an exceptional level of knowledge that is always in pace with the ever-changing nature of computer studies. One of his enthusiastic Symons Award nominees said “not a class goes by that Prof. Hurley has not made valiant efforts to add entertainment to the class while keeping everyone focused. He makes you understand everything before he goes on.”
Prof. Hurley received his B.Sc. from the University of New Brunswick and completed his education with a Ph.D. from the University of Waterloo.
