
Faculty Showcase for Remote Teaching: Sally Chivers

Dr. Sally Chivers has had a unique experience with remote teaching. She worked on her own develop ENGL-WMST 3609H: SickLit into a remote course; and she had the pleasure of working with the good folks in Trent Online to bring online UNIV 2002H: Health Humanities. In this showcase, Sally compares her experience developing and teaching both courses, with a keen eye on their assessments.
Sally begins by discussing her courses as forms of expression, and teaching as the act of helping students find the kinds of expression that can show off their skills and knowledge (2:55). After a brief overview of ENGL-WMST 3609: SickLit, Sally discusses her podcast (5:30), the removal of the course's mid-term test (8:09), and the high-quality of writing on VoiceThread (11:17). As Sally turns to UNIV 2002H (14:12), she discusses the scaffolding of creative assignments (16:25) and the final gallery project (23:10).
