- Symons Award for Excellence in Teaching (2002-03)
- Ontario Confederation of University Faculty Associations Teaching Award (2005)
Professor David Page began his teaching career in 1968 as part of Trent University’s Department of Ancient History and Classics. During his time at Trent, he taught more than 30 different courses, including all levels of Latin, Classical History and Classical Civilization.
Prof. Page once said that watching his students develop as academic individuals was the most rewarding part of his career. He was also quoted saying that it is not really possible to teach, but rather that the goal is to encourage young minds to teach themselves. His students said that he was passionate about what he taught and that his enthusiasm was contagious and inspiring; that Prof. Page had the ability to make the dead language of Latin come alive. Prof. Page retired from Trent as Professor Emeritus.
Prof. Page was educated at the University of Sheffield, where he completed his B.A. and Dip. Ed.
