>> Duc Hien Nguyen: I just want to say thank you so much for what you have done for Trent it has been a great honour to know Dr. Franklin and work with him on senate. I have learned so much from him and I think he has done a great job leaving a great legacy to Trent. >> Dr. Barry Saville: He moved immediately to mentor for the upstart professor and so I thought that was not expected, but appreciated. I think that set the scene for our relationship that sort of President Franklin as the mentor and myself as the student. I think that sort of relationship has been the case since the start and I would like to make sure that I thank him for that. >> Myra Ashmar: One thing I would like to say is thank you so much for what you have done for Trent and for all the students that have come and gone and that are still around being involved with the University. Best of luck in all that you do and we hope to see you back soon. >> Dr. Raul Hernandez: Steven Franklin has brought the University in pace with new developments with older Universities. I think Steven has provided a framework for planning and for the future years of the University. There are obvious landmarks that are apart of his presidency in terms of buildings. Not only physical structures but also the planning structure for the University to move along in the next few years. >> Amber Vance: I am majouring in Indigenous studies and one of the things we are taught is to listen twice and to talk once because we have two ears and one mouth and I think Steven Franklin does that very well. He always took into account everybody else's perspectives and thoughts before talking and you could tell when he responded that he did listen and embrace what everyone else around him said. >> Dr. Dennis Murray: I would say that my favourite memory is actually the first time that I met him, which was when he first started his term. He invited me as well as many other people individually to his office to meet with him and discuss his vision for the University and how he wanted people to be co-operative and collegial to help him toward that vision. At that time I thought it was not only kind but also generous with his time and insightful for a new President to actually take the time and meet individually with faculty to try and get them on board. So that is my first impression my lasting impression and it has been very impressive to me that, thats the approach that he would take. >> Ben Perry:With President Franklin we have been able to grow a fair amount in the past 5 years, not only with the student centre, water street residence, or the revamp of the Oshawa campus but I think it is just able to reflect on the work he's been able to put in and really accelerate Trent's growth. >> Tina Fridgen: Hi Dr. Franklin, we will miss you while you are away but we look forward to seeing what kind of research that you will be able to do here at Trent in our geography department, we need all the help you can give us take care bye bye. >> Harvey McCue: One achievement that I think will be long remembered as part of your legacy during your tenure as the president of Trent University and that is the time and effort that you put into the synergy and relationship with UOIT. I think that relationship is going to stand the test of time, I think it is going to be an important element in the growth and future of Trent and that will be mostly due to your vision and to your energy and to your commitment to the university and of that you can be really proud of. >> Anne Wright: Hi Steven, as we are concluding our term at the same time I just want to take this opportunity to thank you so much for your great support to me in my role as Board Chair. You are a great teacher and for that I thank you above all.
