Ontario Centre of Innovation Welcomed to Trent
Trent University welcomed members of the Ontario Centre of Innovation (OCI) to the Symons Campus in Peterborough, touring Trent’s world-class research facilities and fostering conversation on industry and post-secondary partnership opportunities. The Ontario Centre of Innovation, through its programming and funding support, seeks to build key industry-academic collaborations with an aim to drive innovation in Ontario.
“These partnerships are an opportunity for Trent University to support its world-renowned faculty and students and their ability to make a real-world impact,” said Dr. Cathy Bruce, vice-president of Research & Innovation at Trent. “By collaborating with partners who share a vision of building a resilient, sustainable Ontario, Trent is better able to contribute to the development of highly skilled jobs and to help direct innovation towards green, sustainable solutions.”
The OCI team “enjoyed the opportunity to visit Trent University in the City of Peterborough,” said Raed Kadri, vice-president of Strategic Initiatives, Business Development and head of the Ontario Vehicle Innovation Network (OVIN), noting the group was particularly impressed with “the exciting research and development as well as commercialization work happening (on campus), fueled by leading-edge researchers and top-tier talent.”
As part of the meetings, the OCI team also had the opportunity to visit the developing 85-acre site of Cleantech Commons™, Canada’s premier cleantech research and development park at Trent University—a hub for collaborative research, innovation, commercialization, and entrepreneurship of clean, green, low- and zero-carbon, sustainable, and circular economy solutions.
