OUA Announces its Award winners and All-Stars for Men's RugbyHAMILTON, ON - The Ontario University Athletics announced the 2004 Men's Rugby All-Stars and Major Award winners. Trent University had two athletes named to the all-star team. Joshua Connor was named for the second time in three years. Tom Gibson, an Academic All-Canadian last season, was also named to the OUA All-Star team. "Josh is a true leader, he is our captain and he has always had a tremendous presence on the field. Tom is a workhorse, he is everything you want from a player both on and off the field," said Head Coach Darrell Devine.
Trent Athletes of the Week Trent University is proud to announce that Aidan Lumley is the RILEY'S-JUNCTION Male Athlete of the Week for the week of November 22nd. Aidan is a member of the Trent swim team and helped the men's 200m free relay team finish in 4th place at the OUA Divisional Championships in Toronto. Aidan hails from Peterborough, Ontario and is a 2nd year Physics student. Trent University is proud to announce that Erin Appleman is the RILEY'S-JUNCTION Female Athlete of the Week for the week of November 22nd . Erin is a member of the Trent swim team and finished in 8th place in the 200m Individual Medley at the OUA Divisional Championships in Toronto. Erin hails from Cavan, Ontario and is a 2nd year Nursing student. Scott Farrow Swims to First Place Toronto, ON- Trent University 4th year swimmer Scott Farrow won the 50m fly at the OUA Divisional Championships, Sunday, November 21st, in a time of 25.36, with teammate Alex Babaris finishing in 4th(25.97). Scott's time currently ranks him in 1st place in the Canadian Interuniversity Sport(CIS) Rankings, and is a new meet record, breaking the mark previously held by Babaris. In the 100m fly Babaris claimed the bronze with a time of 57.08, while Farrow finished in 4th place(59.68). Laura Martin broke her own school record in both the 100m and 200m breast. Martin finished in 6th place in the 200m breast(2:51.52), and in 9th place in the 200m breast(1:20.50). Both Farrow and Babaris will be competing at the Senior Short Course National Championships, November 26th-27th in Calgary, Alberta. Trent Volleyball Defeats Georgian The Trent University women's volleyball team hosted Georgian College, Friday, November, 26th. Trent won the match by a score of 3-0(25-12, 25-19, 25-18). Leading the way for Trent was Peterborough native, Becki Rodin (photo) with 10 points (6 kills, 1 block, 3 aces). With the win Trent enters the Christmas break in third place in the OCAA East Division. Trent Women Defeat Fleming The Trent University women's volleyball team was in action, Tuesday, November, 23rd, defeating Sir Sanford Fleming College by a score of 3-1(13-25, 25-23, 25-16, 25-20). Leading the attack for Trent was Laura Lynch with 16 points(14kills, 1 block and 1 ace). Trent hosts Georgian College, Friday, November 26th at 6pm. Trent Men's Volleyball Report The Trent University men's volleyball team hosted Georgian College, Friday, November 26th. Trent was defeated by a score of 3-1(17-25, 25-16, 25-22, 25-12). Leading the way for Trent was Cory Leblanc with 12 points (9 kills, 3 blocks). With the loss Trent enters the Christmas break in fourth place in the OCAA East Division. The Trent University men's volleyball team was in action, Tuesday, November, 23rd. Trent was defeated by Sir Sanford Fleming College by a score of 3-2(25-14, 26-28, 25-19, 20-25, 15-7). Leading the attack for Trent was Ryan Coglin with 17 points(14kills, 1 block and 2 aces). Trent hosts Georgian College, Friday, November 26th at 8pm.
