Trent Athletes of the WeekTrent University is proud to announce that Scott Farrow is the RILEY'S-JUNCTION Male Athlete of the Week for the week of October 18. Scott is a member of the Trent swim team. This past week Scott qualified for the Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS) championships in the 50m fly with a time of 26.33s. Scott hails from Mississauga, Ontario and is a 4th year Biology student. Trent University is proud to announce that Crystal Dickinson is the RILEY'S JUNCTION Female Athlete of the Week for the week of October 18. Crystal is a wing on the Trent rugby team. Crystal scored two try's against Wilfrid Laurier to lead Trent to a 20-7 victory. Crystal hails from Bancroft, Ontario and is a 2nd year History student.
Trent Women's SoccerPeterborough, ON - The Trent University Women's Soccer team lost to the Carleton Ravens by a score of 5-0, Saturday, October 16 in Ottawa. On Sunday, Trent hosted the Ottawa Gee-Gee's and lost by a score of 5-0. "It was a tough weekend for us, we played 2 of the top teams in the country and had to travel to Ottawa and back in one day," added Head Coach Bruce Rowe. "We played strong and we're improving." Trent travels to Ottawa Saturday, October 23, and hosts Wilfrid Laurier, Sunday October 24, at 3pm. Trent Women's RugbyThe Trent University Women's Rugby team defeated the Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks by a score of 20-7, Saturday, October 16. Scoring tries for Trent was Crystal Dickinson with two, and Catherine Bucknam and Laura Clark with one each. "This was a great way to end our season," said Head Coach Nancy Marcotte. "We played hard every game, and we had a chance to win every game this year. With almost every player returning next year, we really have something great to build upon." Trent finishes(2-4) in 3rd place in the OUA Russell Division. Trent Men's SoccerOttawa, ON - The Trent University Men's Soccer team lost to the Carleton Ravens by a score of 7-0, Saturday, September 16. "Carleton was ranked 3rd in the country last week, the score was 2-0 at the half, I thought we played a solid half, we just didn't get the bounces we needed." said Head Coach Claude Bolton. "We're a very young team and we continue to improve." Trent hosts Laurier, Sunday, October 24 at 1pm. Trent Men's RugbyKitchener, ON - The Trent University Men's Rugby team lost to the Wilfrid Laurier Golden Hawks by a score of 17-0, Saturday, October 16. "It was a tough season for us, we battled injury problems all season, but there was a lot of positives that can be brought into next season," said Head Coach Darrell Devine. With the loss Trent (0-6) finishes in 6th place in the OUA East division. Trent Cross CountryThe Trent University Cross Country team traveled to Kingston for the Queens Open, Saturday, October 16th. Lee Appleby finished the 10km course in 34th place out of 90, in a time of 36:48, freshman Mike Minor was close behind in 35th place(36:52). Leading the way for the women was freshman Chantal Gagne who finished in 40th place out of 98, with a time of 21:29 over the 5km course. Trent will compete at the Brock Invitational, Saturday, October 23rd.
