Trent Athletes of the Week

Trent University is proud to announce that Kieren Rowe is the RILEY'S-JUNCTION Male Athlete of the Week, for the week of March 1. Mr. Rowe, a member of the Trent fencing team, competed at the OUA Championships, in Kingston this past weekend. Mr. Rowe, a rookie, finished in tenth place in the Epee Division. Mr. Rowe hails from Kingston, Ontario and is a first-year Psychology student.

Trent University is proud to announce that Tamar Walsh is the RILEY'S-JUNCTION Female Athlete of the Week, for the week of March 1. Ms. Walsh, a member of the Trent fencing team, has competed at the OUA Championships, in Kingston this past weekend. Walsh's, fourth-place finish in the Foil Division, helped the Lady Excalibur fencing team finish in fifth place. Ms. Walsh hails from Coldwater, Ontario, and is a second-year Anthropology student.

Fencing

The Trent University Fencing team completed its season at the OUA Championships in Kingston this past weekend. The Trent women finished in 5th place overall. Leading the way was Tamar Walsh who finished in fourth place in the Women's Foil. In the Women's Sabre division, Sheena McKay finished in seventh place. On the Men's side Rookie Kieran Rowe finished in tenth place in the Men's Epee, also in Epee action, teammate Dan McGinn finished in fifteenth place.

Trent Skiers Continue to Shine

Despite the recent rise in temperature, the Trent Excalibur nordic ski team continues to post top results. Peterborough native, Stephen Hart, continued to show why he is one of the top nordic skiers in Canada, as he won the fourth leg of the Ontario Cup this past weekend, in Collingwood. The "Hart-attack" as he is affectionately known by his teammates, won the 900m sprint classic portion on Saturday, then demonstrated his diversity on Sunday by winning the 20km mass start skate race by 48 seconds. Also competing for Trent was Adrienne Mason. Ms. Mason finished in eighth place in the female sprint, and ninth place in the distance portion. Both Mr. Hart and Ms. Mason will compete at the Canadian College and University National Championships, March 12 to 16.
