IRISH POET MOYA CANNON FEATURED IN TWO EVENTS THIS WEEK
Irish poet, translator and editor Moya Cannon, who is the current writer-in-residence at Champlain College, Trent University, will read from her work at two unique events this week.
On Tuesday, February 25, Ms. Cannon will read at the Peterborough Arms starting at 7 p.m. The reading will feature Ms. Cannon’s own work and recently-translated gaelic songs, and live Celtic music will also be performed.
On Friday, February 28, Ms. Cannon will lead a session with Queen’s University Professor Peter Taylor at 1 p.m. in the Champlain College Senior Common Room. The relationship between mathematics and poetry will be explored, as well as commonalities in aesthetic forms.
Ms. Cannon is the author of two internationally-acclaimed volumes of poetry, Oar and The Parchment Boat. She is also completing a project involving the translation of traditional Irish songs from Gaelic and Old Irish into modern Irish.
Both events featuring Ms. Cannon are free and open to the public.
