Student Leader Matt Naylor and his thoughts on the TCSA

Matt Naylor, president of the Trent Central Student Association (TCSA), has very defined ideas about Trent and what makes it unique. In fact, these convictions may be the driving force behind his involvement in student government.

"I like to remind people to care about this place, and to help people fall in love with the Trent I've fallen in love with," says the fourth-year philosophy major.

Reflecting that sentiment, Matt feels the primary role of the TCSA is to keep students informed and up-to-date about what is happening at the University, at all levels.

As the 2002/03 academic year gets rolling, another TCSA priority is to fill three executive board positions: vice president of finance, vice president of membership services and vice president of external affairs. Nominations opened on Monday, September 16, and run until September 27. Campaigning will run from that date until October 6, with polling from October 7 - 10.

Matt's term as president will wrap up in April of 2003. At the same time, his undergraduate career will draw to a close. He is unsure of plans after graduation, although he's tossing around ideas of graduate studies or a move to Nunavut. For the next seven months, however, as he serves as student leader of the TCSA, he hopes to bring together four years of Trent student government and committee work in a way that mirrors his view of this campus.
