Trent Rowing and Rugby Success

Trent Women's Rowing Eights

Trent Rowing Successful at Welland

The Trent University rowing team competed at the Welland Invitational, Sunday, September 25. The Trent crew, Katie Raynor and Rebecca Love, won the women's lightweight double. Trent also won the coxed women's four race, as well as both the men's and women's novice eight races.

The highlight of the meet was in the women's eight race as Trent finished in second place to the national team's eight.

"It was good to get some positive results this early in the season, it will help the confidence of the crews," said Head Coach Carol Love. Trent crews will be competing this weekend in the Head of the Trent Rowing Regatta.

Trent Defeats RMC

On Sunday, September 25, the Trent University men's rugby team traveled to Kingston and defeated the Royal Military College (RMC) by a score of 16-12.

RMC took an early 7-0 lead. Mike Donald crossed the line for Trent followed by a conversion from Mike Simmons to give Trent an 8-7 halftime lead. Trent's eight man, Josh Connor opened the scoring in the second half to give Trent a 13-7 lead. RMC added a late score, followed by a late penalty goal for Trent by Simmons.

"We really came out and played our game. We needed this win to stay in contention for the playoffs and we played the way we needed to," said Head Coach Darrell Devine.  With the win Trent moves into a third place tie in the OUA East Division. Trent hosts the University of Windsor, Sunday, October 2, at 3 p.m.
