Celebrating the Heart of Trent
Thanking staff, faculty and retirees for 50 years of dedication
“I wish to thank the employees and retirees who represent all of Trent and really make the University what it is… YOU are the heart of Trent!”
These were the words of Dr. Leo Groarke, president and vice-chancellor, as Trent staff, faculty, retirees and volunteers gathered to celebrate 50 years of service and collegiality to the Trent community on April 30 in Peterborough and May 4 in Durham at two special events.
In Peterborough, more than 300 people attended the Anniversary Appreciation Event in the Great Hall of Champlain College to honour the dedication and service of all staff, with special attention on those who are retiring. In Durham, staff and faculty gathered in the front atrium to celebrate both Trent’s Anniversary and 40 years in Durham.
The reception in Peterborough included musical performances, special remarks, and a book signing by D’Arcy Jenish, author of Trent University: Celebrating 50 years of Excellence. In Durham, guests captured the fun with interactive props and photo booth, as well as an ice cream sundae bar.
