Staff and Faculty Rise to Student Centre Challenge raising over $189,000
The Challenge continues - extended until June 23
One of the issuers of the Student Centre Challenge, Dorcas Mensah, student representative on the Board of Governors, was in the Champlain Great Hall on April 30 thanking the faculty and staff who have accepted the challenge to date. Ms. Mensah spoke as part of the 50th Anniversary Faculty, Staff and Retiree Appreciation event, where the University thanked everyone for being “the heart of Trent.”
With the help of a number of volunteers, it was revealed that the total contributed by staff and faculty to date is $189,000; with $99,000 from 93 staff and $88,000 from 29 faculty. Ms. Mensah extended her appreciation on behalf of students for this generosity.
"On behalf of all students both current and future, I extend a heartfelt thank you for your generosity," she said.
Due to the positive response, and end of a busy academic year, the Student Centre Challenge has been extended until June 23. Final Challenge results will be reported at the Board of Governors meeting.
"The response from the campus has been outstanding. The whole community should feel extremely proud to be part of such an important student initiative,” said Julie Davis, vice-president, External Relations & Advancement. “This beautiful building will be transformational for this campus. I encourage anyone who hasn't had a chance yet to contribute to do so. When it opens in 2017 we will be glad to say “I helped make this happen.”
