Are you an undergraduate student in your 3rd or 4th year of study? Are you working on an interesting project that more people should know about?
Three Minute Paper (3MP) is an exciting competition for undergraduate students. Inspired by Three Minute Thesis (3MT®) competition for graduate students, 3MP was developed in collaboration by the colleges of Trent University and Academic Skills. This year, 3MP returns March 5, 2025 to Nozhem Theatre where students will present to a live audience.
Open to students completing an honours seminar, an honours thesis, a community research project, or a major project in any discipline, the 3MP competition challenges undergraduates to present their work to others, in a clear, concise, and engaging manner. Participants have three minutes to explain their research from one major assignment in an upper year course. 3MP challenges students to balance complexity and depth with clarity and concision as they explain their research question, their findings, and its relevance to the Trent community; presenters can use up to three PowerPoint slides as visual aids to support their talk.
3MP participants compete for cash prizes and college and campus bragging rights. This is a great opportunity to expand your resume or portfolio and to develop essential skills for job interviews, networking, professional education, or graduate studies.
Find competition details and application information at trentu.ca/3mp. The application deadline is 4 p.m. on January 29, 2025. Questions can be directed to the 3MP committee via email.
