Back into the Swing of Things: $65,000 Raised at Trent’s Annual President’s Excalibur Golf Tournament in Support of Varsity Student-Athletes
Funds raised at 16th annual event to support Trent Excalibur Green and White Scholarships
After a two-year hiatus, the President’s Excalibur Golf Tournament made its long-awaited return at the Quarry Golf Course on June 30. In partnership with title sponsor Ameresco, the 16th edition of the tournament raised a total of $65,000 in support of the Trent Excalibur Green and White Scholarship Fund–to be awarded to exceptional first-year student-athletes at the University.
“With the support of all our partners, Trent Athletics has been able to develop and grow our high-performance Excalibur varsity program. We are incredibly thankful for our amazing President’s Excalibur Golf Tournament title sponsor Ameresco, and all our golf tournament sponsors for their support,” said Tariq Al-idrissi, vice president Finance and Administration at Trent University. “With their continued support and commitment to our Excalibur student-athletes, through the Green and White Scholarship Fund, we will continue to be able to recruit the best and the brightest to Trent, enhancing the overall varsity student-athlete high performance experience.”
“Congratulations to everyone who participated, and a special thank you to the many generous sponsors for their continued support of our Excalibur Green and White Scholarship fund,” said Deborah Bright-Brundle, director of athletics and recreation. “This year’s return of the President’s Excalibur Golf Tournament was an overwhelming success.”
The day was capped off with a dinner hosted by student-athlete Brett Middleton of the Excalibur men’s rugby team. The dinner included welcoming remarks from Debra Cooper Burger, chair of Trent University’s Board of Governors, and a keynote guest speaker Emily VanDamme of the Excalibur women’s lacrosse team.
On behalf of the Excalibur student-athletes, Ms. VanDamme thanked all the attendees and sponsors for their continued support. “Your support allows our individual efforts to shine both on the field and in the classroom,” said Ms. VanDamme, co-captain of the Excalibur Women’s Lacrosse Team. “You are an integral part of our Excalibur family, and our success is also your success.”
