Nikolas Koiou shares experiences and advice with masters students at Durham GTA campus
Master of Management students welcomed guest speaker Nikolas Koiou, Director of Marketing for Maple Leaf Foods, to campus on Friday November 16th to speak about transferrable skills in marketing and how to apply those skills to success in the workplace.
Mr. Koiou has spent many years in the world of Marketing, working for large national and international companies, leading him to his current position as director of Marketing for Maple Leaf Foods, one of the largest manufactures in Canada. His discussion with students centered around using marketing as a skill for the workplace. Mr. Koiou stressed the importance for students to use marketing as a tool in their repertoire of skills to be used in managing a team, developing your personal brand, and in various situations in any profession.
Students spoke very highly of the opportunity to hear Mr. Koiou speak about applying the skills gained through the Master of Management program to their own personal brand and that of the businesses they will soon be working for.
“Marketing yourself will win you more opportunities. It plays a positive role in personal career development,” said Master of Management student Ge Lin. “Nikolas stressed the importance of marketing a company in a competitive society. It will help grow your business, get more opportunities for cooperation and expand your business.”
The 16-month Master of Management is offered exclusively at the Trent University’s Durham Campus in the Greater Toronto Area. The program provides students with a grounding in a broad spectrum of business and management disciplines, from accounting to corporate finance and marketing to strategic management, and also encourages students to understand the larger social issues facing businesses in a rapidly changing environment.
