Trent Athletes set to Represent Canada at Rowing World Championships in Bulgaria
Trevor Jones & Bayleigh Hooper selected as Canadian crewmembers
It has been a summer of success for Trent Excalibur and NextGen rower, Trevor Jones. After adding two-time World Rowing Under-23 Champion to his list of athletic achievements last month, he now has something else to smile about. Mr. Jones will make his senior world championship debut in the men’s single at the 2018 World Championships in Plovdiv, Bulgaria.
“Trevor is heading to his first senior championships and has big expectations for himself,” says Rowing Canada’s NextGen Hub lead coach and former Olympian, Carol Love. “Fresh off defending his world championship single medal this will give him the chance to test himself against the 'big guns' on the world stage.”
Along with Mr. Jones, Trent Excalibur athlete Bayleigh Hooper was also chosen to represent in Bulgaria as a member of the mixed coxed four.
“Bayleigh came to Trent last year as part of the Novice program and we realized that she had the opportunity to classify as a para-athlete. Her trajectory in the sport of rowing has been both fast and exciting and seeing her head out to join the para mixed-coxed four team is incredibly exciting for both Ms. Hooper and our club,” continued Ms. Love.
The World Championships will take place from September 9 through until September 16.
