Trent Students Connect with Local Organizations at Volunteer Fair
Trent Career Centre helps students get involved in local community
Over 30 Peterborough community organizations attended Trent University’s annual volunteer fair on September 14 to meet motivated and enthusiastic Trent students looking for ways to give back and volunteer in the local community. Organizations, including the Alzheimer Society, Big Brothers Big Sisters, and the New Canadian Centre Peterborough, offered a diverse range of volunteer opportunities for Trent students to get involved.
“Volunteering helps students develop an open mind about the career world, and foster their networking skills by meeting enthusiastic people working in different positions who are able to give personal insight into different career paths,” says Francini Brice, fourth-year student in B.Sc. Honours in Biology. “Volunteering also helps an individual to become more aware of themselves as they discover what skills they are good at, and what skills they can transfer to use in the workplace.”
If students missed the chance to attend the volunteer fair, stop by the Career Centre in Champlain College 204 for more information or check out the Trent University Career Centre website for more information.
