Trent University leads the province for percentage increase in first choice acceptances from high school students, up by 24.7% as of the deadline according to data released today by the Ontario Universities Application Centre (OUAC) – and has led Ontario universities every month for the second year in a row for percentage increase in applications, on average up by 17%.
Students accepting their offer to Trent University have increased again for the coming fall term, with 14.5% more secondary school student confirmations overall. The system was up by just 1% as of the June 1 OUAC deadline for students to accept their offer.
“More students are making Trent their first choice based on the University’s mix of innovative academic programming and an interactive learning experience that sets us apart,” said Dr. Leo Groarke, president and vice-chancellor of Trent University. “With the new Student Centre set to open in fall 2017, our Bata Library undergoing a transformation to the library of the future, and the Trent Research and Innovation Park on the brink of offering experiential learning opportunities, it is likely Trent’s momentum will continue as a popular choice among students.”
This is the third year in a row Trent has seen enrollment growth. Several new programs introduced in recent years have attracted applications including Social Work, Pre-Medical Emphasis, a Law & Arts degree, and specializations like Accounting, Finance, Marketing and Entrepreneurship in the School of Business at Trent. The University’s Durham – GTA campus is seeing tremendous growth as well, having introduced popular programs such as Child and Youth Studies and Communications.
Recent investments in teaching at Trent have reinforced the institution’s reputation for a personal, purposeful learning experience. New marketing and recruitment strategies have brought awareness to the close-knit student life and learning environment at Trent’s two campuses, one in the Greater Toronto Area in the City of Oshawa and the other in Peterborough conveniently located between the GTA and the nation’s capital.
