Get Experience Fair Connects Students with Local Community
“Get experience, get local” was the theme for Trent University’s annual Get Experience Fair on Tuesday September 15, where over 30 local employers and volunteer organizations joined on-campus departments to recruit Trent University students for part-time and volunteer positions.
Organized by the Career Centre, the goal of this event is to provide both students and the local community alike with an opportunity to meet face-to-face and develop their networks.
“Many of the participating organizations are actively recruiting for many volunteer positions – volunteer roles that are vital to the success of these community organizations,” says Brittney Blake, coordinator of Employer and Recruiter Relations at Trent University. “It is a chance for students to get involved and give back to the community, while at the same time gaining the hands-on experience which is essential for students to uncover their strengths and passions in order to identify and move toward their career goals.”
Organizations participating in the annual Get Experience Fair are actively prepared to offer volunteer and part-time work experiences to Trent students so they can get experience and get involved with their local community, making lasting connections. In addition to local businesses and community agencies, the event included several on-campus departments and interest groups recruiting for the more than 350 volunteer and on-campus work opportunities available on-campus every year. Most departments at Trent University hire students each year to work part-time. All of these positions can be found on Trent’s Student Job Board.
