Mud, Sweat, and Cheers: Highlights of Orientation Week
First Week at Trent Brings New Experiences and Lasting Memories
From a Glow Show to Global Picnic, September at Trent University began with an exclamation mark, as over 2000 new students participated in Orientation Week activities across both campuses. In fact, it was the largest first year class in the history of the Durham campus.
Highlights of the week in Peterborough included Faculty FaceTime, a Glow Show on Bata Podium, The Great Race, varsity games, and cooling off from the heat with a dip in the Otonabee River.
Incoming student Sarah Poirer was thrilled with her experience. ”O-week was awesome! It was so well organized and being an off-campus student, the leaders made it super easy to meet new people in a fun and relaxed environment. I'm excited to attend more events at Trent and meet even more new people because everyone has been so welcoming and positive!”
Trent University Durham balanced academic skills workshops with other memorable events including an impressive drumming circle, on-campus concert by Hollerado, and dodgeball tournament. “The Drum Circle was by far my favourite part of the Start-Up events. It was like nothing I had experienced before!” said Zara Abakasanga, a first-year psychology student.
The success of the Orientation Week was furthered by the beautiful sunny skies and endless enthusiasm of the class of 2019. Above all though, the week was made possible by a dedicated team of students, staff and faculty at Trent who spent many months preparing to make it a seamless experience.
