Board Approves Objectives and Work Plan for Coming Year

Framework for managing cumulative deficit approved

Approved:

  • the objectives and work plan for the Board of Governors, 2001-02. The broad objective areas include: the establishment of strategic university directions that are consistent with its mission and support institutional renewal and vitality; the restoration of institutional financial stability; fundraising; governance; and institutional quality and performance.
  • the Board's financial statements, April 30, 2001 and the auditor's report.
  • the reappointment of McColl Turner as the university's external auditors for the period 2001-02.
  • a framework for managing the university's cumulative deficit. The framework will set the financial context for the University-wide planning process to be implemented during the 2001-02 academic year. The basic concept being proposed is to establish a targeted reserve from new incremental funding received as a result of new student growth.
  • a memo of understanding between Trent University and Sir Sandford Fleming College for a cooperative infrastructure project related to the SuperBuild Link 2000 project.

Upcoming Meeting

Next meeting of the Board of Governors is set for Friday, November 30, 2001.
