Ontario University Athletics winners are flanked by Athletic Director Paul Wilson (far left) and Trent President Bonnie Patterson (far right).

Varsity Athletes Excel Academically

Who says you can't have it both ways? Certainly not the 50 Trent athletes honoured for their academic prowess at Trent University November 22nd at the Multi-Purpose Room, Athletic Complex.

The annual event recognizes Trent students who participate in varsity sports and achieve an average of 80% or higher. CIS Academic All-Canadians and the recipients of the OUA Academic Achievement Award were honoured at the reception.

University President Bonnie Patterson, herself a fan of athletics, lauded the academic achievements of the students. "The 50 students being honoured today excel in two, and often more, areas of university life," commented President Patterson. "It's encouraging to see the vigour with which these athletes and scholars pursue both the physical and the intellectual activities available here at Trent. They make us proud in every way."
