Course Prepares Students of All Ages for University Learning

The Academic Skills Centre at Trent University is pleased to present Academic Skills for University Success, an intensive three-week course, August 6th to 23rd, that will prepare students for the transition to university studies.

The course is open to anyone expecting to attend university this fall, or in the future. Students graduating from high school, and community college students intending to begin or complete a university degree, will find the course particularly useful, as will individuals who have been out of school, but now plan to return.

Students will be introduced to the types of assignments and academic expectations typical of a first year university program. In addition to learning writing, reading, critical thinking, and study skills, participants will have the opportunity to meet other prospective students and share strategies for making the transition to university as smooth as possible.

The three week session will take place from August 6 - 23, 2002, in a relaxed environment, on the beautiful Trent campus. Classes will run Monday to Friday, 9:30 to 3:30, and will include lectures, small group work, and individual consultations.

The cost of the course is $400 (plus GST) and includes all materials. A 10 per cent discount is available to those who register before May 15th. Residence options are available at an attractive price. For more information call (705) 748-1720 or visit our web site: www.trentu.ca/academicskills/summer.
