Annual Peterborough Science Fair to be Held at Trent University

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Volunteers and Judges Needed for April 11 Event

Wednesday, February 8, 2006, Peterborough

Trent University is pleased to announce that they will be hosting the annual Peterborough Science Fair, open to students in Kindergarten to Grade 12, on Tuesday, April 11 in the Chemical Science and Environmental Resource Buildings on the Symons Campus.

Recruitment for volunteers, including approximately 120 judges, is now taking place for the April 11 event. English speaking and bilingual judges are needed.

Each year hundreds of students representing dozens of schools from Apsley to Cobourg participate in the Science Fair at Trent, an annual tradition since 1970, and a premier showcase of young scientific talent. The students, ranging from Kindergarten to Grade 12, display projects in biological, physical, engineering, and computing sciences.

This year, the winners of the Science Fair will represent the Peterborough Region at the Canada Wide Science Fair in Chicoutimi, Quebec for a week in May 2006.

Anyone interested in volunteering, as a judge or in another capacity, is asked to contact Marie Anderson in the department of the Associate Dean of Science, at 748.1011 x7202 or via e-mail at manderson@trentu.ca.
