SCHOOL OF EDUCATION SENDS OUT OFFERS OF ADMISSION

Trent University’s School of Education and Professional Learning is in the process of sending out admission decisions for the first-ever intake of consecutive one-year Bachelor of Education students.

This year approximately 2,800 applications were received for 115 full-time positions and 55 part-time positions. There was a large number of very qualified candidates, and the School of Education is pleased to extend offers of admission to a group of carefully-chosen applicants.

On April 1, 2003, all applicants will receive one of three letters:

1. Offer of Admission – this letter will communicate that the applicant has been accepted to either the part-time or full-time program and will indicate acceptance to either the primary/junior or intermediate/senior stream.

2. Not Eligible – this letter will communicate that the applicant is not eligible for the one-year consecutive B.Ed program

3. Deferral – this letter will communicate that at this time no decision has been made with regard to admission, and that more time will be needed before making a final decision. The letter will indicate when the applicant can expect a definitive response.

The admissions office has carefully reviewed every application. Files were assessed on two criteria – academic average and profile of experience. Profiles of experience were reviewed by trained readers (University officials and teachers).

Applicants who have received an offer of admission have been asked to reply to Trent University by April 15.
