AUTHOR DAVID MACFARLANE FEATURED AT WRITERS READING EVENT THIS WEDNESDAY

Award-winning author David Macfarlane will read from his work as part of Trent University’s Writers Reading series at 8 p.m. on Wednesday, February 12, 2003.

Mr. Macfarlane is the author of a family memoir of Newfoundland called The Danger Tree, which won the Canadian Authors’ Association Award for non-fiction in 1992. He began his career as a writer and editor with Weekend Magazine and has since been published in Saturday Night, Maclean’s, Toronto Life and Books in Canada, among others.

The recipient of 11 National Magazine Awards and a Sovereign Award for Magazine Journalism, Mr. Macfarlane is now a national columnist for The Globe and Mail. He was a co-winner of the 2000 Chapters/Books in Canada First Novel Award for his novel Summer Gone (Vintage Canada, 2000), which was also shortlisted for the Giller Prize.

This event will take place in the Junior Common Room in Scott House at Traill College (310 London Street). It is free and open to the public.
