QUILT-IN TO FEATURE LOCAL TALENT

On January 25 and 26, the Trent Evening Quilters will celebrate their talents with the public at Trent University.

This second annual Busier Than a Bee Quilt-in will take place in the Great Hall at Champlain College from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days. Admission is free.

The event is the brainchild of Curve Lake quilter Alice Williams. She was Trent’s artist-in-residence in 1999 and inspired the creation of the Trent Evening Quilters group. Ms. Williams sees the quilt-in as a way to showcase this traditional art form and also give something back to the University for its part in the founding of the group.

Quilt appraiser Rosalie Tennison will give written estimates during the quilt-in, for a fee. Anyone with a family heirloom or an interesting keepsake can make an appointment by calling 705-876-1159.

The Trent Evening Quilters outgrew their Trent home long ago and now meet on the first Thursday of the month at Peterborough Christian Fellowship on Milroy Drive. To find out more about the Quilt-in or the group, call 705-657-3319 or 705-745-9643.
