The CISCO 7940/60 series phones and the 8945 phones are equipped with a speaker. You can dial and complete a call without lifting the receiver. Please be mindful of your neighbours and use speaker phone in a closed space, as much as possible.

MUTE |
While a call is muted, the other party cannot hear you. To return to a conversation, press the MUTE key again. The "MUTE" key applies to both the receiver and the speaker phone. |

- To contact Switchboard, dial "0" and speak "Switchboard". Auto-attendant will transfer your call.
Please note: Switchboard is unable to tell if someone is in their office, or on the phone. If you get voicemail, please leave a message for your party.
- Pick up the handset, the speaker button on the phone, or the the "New Call" softkey.Listen for the dial tone.
- Dial "9"
- Dial the number you wish to reach (local calls have 10 digit phone numbers, including the area code)
External Calls (Long Distance):
A personal long distance authorization code is required to make long distance calls. Requests for this personal code may be made by submitting an online form at myTrent>Services>IT Services>Long Distance Authorization Code
- Pick up the handset, the speaker button on the phone, or the the "New Call" softkey. Listen for the dial tone.
- Dial "9" , then "1", then the 10-digit number (including area code) that you wish to reach.
- When you hear the tone, enter your long distance authorization code.
- If your code is accepted, your call will process.
External Calls (International Long Distance):
- Pick up the handset, the speaker button on the phone, or the the "New Call" softkey.Listen for the dial tone.
- Dial "9" , then "011", then the 10-digit number (including area code) that you wish to reach.
- When you hear the tone, enter your long distance authorization code.
- If you code is accepted, your call will process.
External Calls (Operator Assisted):
Operator assisted calls can be made using a Bell Calling Card and dialing 1-800-555-1111. Information on purchasing Bell Calling Cards can be found here: prepaid.bell.ca/Retailers.do
Personal calls must NOT be charged to Trent University numbers. Bell Calling Cards can be used for personal calls and they can be found here: prepaid.bell.ca/Retailers.do
