Description:
In 2015 Microsoft released the latest version of it's Windows operating system, Windows 10. This new version of Windows has been selected as the next version of Windows to be adopted on IT managed computers at Trent University.
Preparations to deliver an automated upgrade to our community have been made. The migration will follow a published schedule (subject to minor changes, which would be communicated both on the posted migration schedule and via email through your Department Admin).

It is the intention to have all Trent- imaged computers migrated over the summer of 2017. Any questions relating to the release timetable will need to be coordinated through the administrative point of contact in your department. |

Leveraging the same technology used by Microsoft to push Windows 10 out to millions of computers world wide, it is our intention to deliver an upgrade that does not require a re-image of your machine. |

Yes, this upgrade will be an in-place upgrade that will include your settings, bookmarks, files etc. |

The system requirements for Windows 10 and Windows 7 are the same, however it’s possible that older computers will have some compatibility issues with the new version of Windows. As these issues are discovered, they’ll be communicated on this page under the Compatibility Matrix Area. |

The upgrade process will have an Opt-In / Opt-Out aspect. Most instrumentation is unmanaged and isn't even on the radar of our upgrade process, however if a computer does slip by, the owners themselves can cancel the process by opting out. |

You shouldn't need it, but just to be safe you could ensure you have your recovery key printed and handy. Open File Explorer > Right click C: drive > Manage Bitlocker > Backup your recovery key |

In such cases, we will not be assigning the upgrade to it and can not recommend upgrading it.
