  1. Go to your document  you wish to print on your iPad or iPhone. 
  2. Select the icon for the print menu (which may be different depending on which app you are in). Most often, the icon you need will be either 3 horizontal dots, or a box with an arrow pointing upward. 
  3. If prompted, select AirPrint
  4. Choose Select Printer >, and a list of available printers will be presented. 
  5. Choose the printer name for the device you want to print to (located on the sticker on the printer). 
  6. The Printer Options dialog box will show you a preview, with all pages preselected to print.
    1. Note: If you wish to deselect certain pages, scroll across and unselect the checked circle on the specific page.
  7. Define your other options, and when done click on "Print" in the upper right-hand corner of the Print Options dialog box.
  8. When prompted, enter your myTrent username and password. (You will only need to do this the first time you print to a particular printer)

Android

Before you mobile print for the first time:

  1. Go to Google Play Store on your Android device. Search for "Mobility Print"

  1. Select the "Mobility Print" App (Papercut Software).

  1. Download the App to your Android device.

To print from an Android device:

  1. Go to your document on your Android device. 
  2. Select the icon to access the print menu in Android (which may be different depending on which app you are in). Most often, you will have to select "Share", then select Print
  3. If prompted, select AirPrint
  4. Choose Select Printer >, and a list of available printers will be presented (You may need select 'Add printer' then select Mobility Printer). 

Installing a printer on an android device

  1. Choose the printer name for the device you want to print to (IT-provisioned printer names are located on a sticker on the printer). 
  2. Enter your MyTRENT username and password when prompted and click on the PRINT button at the bottom of the dialog box.

Windows:

Before you mobile print the first time:

  1. Download and run the Windows Mobility Print Printer Setup
  2. When asked if you want to allow the program to make changes, answer Yes. 
  3. At the license screen, click on the radio button to accept the Terms and Conditions and select Next .

  1. Select a printer (IT-provisioned printer names are located on a label on the printer); then click Next.

  1. Enter your myTrent Username and Password when prompted; then click Next.

  2. Click Finish.

To print a document:

  1. Open the document you want to print.
  2. Choose File >Print or Ctrl-P
  3. Select a printer (IT-provisioned printer names are located on a label on the printer); then click Next.
  4. Enter your myTrent Username and Password if prompted; then click Next.
  5. Click Finish.
  6. Print your document.

MacOS:

You must be connected to the Trent network either via TrentNet or eduroam.

The MacOS uses the native Bonjour protocol for printing, No additional app is required.

These steps will walk you through the steps to install a particular printer for both Trent-provisioned printers (office or student lab) and personal printers. 

  1. Navigate to System Preferences... and from the Preferences page, select the Printers & Scanners dialog box.

2. Click on the Plus "+" sign at the bottom of Printers & Scanners, if you wish to install a new printer.

3. From the Default tab, you will be presented with the list of printers available to install.

4. Click on the printer you wish to print from (IT-provisioned printer names are located on a label on the printer). If you are not using a Trent-provisioned printer, or if you do not see the printer listed, please skip below to the Non-Trent Printers.

In the following image, it-1 has been selected. Note that the Name, location, and use fields fill in, once you select the printer. Click the "Add" button.

Click on the drop down arrows to the right of the Use field, and select Secure Air Print.

Click on the Add button to add that printer. 

If you are not finding the Trent-provisioned office printer (i.e. Trent IT printer name is on the printer) you wish to print to listed. please contact it@trentu.ca

To print to a student lab printer, you must select the printer, but in the Use field select Generic PostScript Printer, instead of Secure AirPrint. 

Please note: You may not have all of the extended features of these printers when installed using the Generic PostScript Printer option. You will have basic features such as single-sided, duplex (2-sided) printing - if you have questions, please contact it@trentu.ca

Non-Trent printers:

Click on the drop-down arrows to the right of the Use field, and select Generic PostScript Printer, and then select Add.

You will be presented with a list of printers native to Bonjour. Type the manufacturer and model name into the Filter box. If it is available in Bonjour, you can select and click 'OK' to install the printer.

Chrome OS:

You must be connected to the Trent network either via TrentNet or eduroam.

  1. Install the Mobility Print Chrome extension.
  2. Open the page to print.
  3. If printing is available, right-click; then select Print.
  4. Click Change to choose a printer.
  5. Select the printer from the list of printers. Make sure you select a Mobility Print printer as identified by the PaperCut icon.
  6. When prompted enter your Trent Username and Password; then tap Sign in and print.
