File Access using Mac

Mac Novell File Access

The process of connecting to your H: (home) and S: (shared) drives must be completed over a TrentNET connection (which is available only to those machines registered to the University). Access to these resources is not available over eduroam or WiredTrent.

If you are unsure if your Mac is registered to the University, please contact the IT Service Desk.

Connect to Server Method (Native to Mac)

Connecting to the H:// drive:

  1. Open a Finder window
  2. Navigate to the GO menu
  3. Select Connect to Server or as an alternate method:
    • With Finder open simply press Command (Cmdr) + K on your keyboard.
  4. Connect to the H: (home) Drive by entering one of the following server addresses:
    • If your home folder resides on Volume 1 enter: cifs://castle.trentu.ca/vol1
    • If your home folder resides on Volume 2 enter: cifs://castle.trentu.ca/vol2
  5. Click Connect
  6. Connect as: "Registered User" when prompted
  7. Enter your Trent credentials: myTrent username and myTrent password
  8. A Finder window will open to your home folder.

Connecting to the S: (shared) Drive:

  1. Open a Finder window
  2. Navigate to the GO menu 
  3. Select Connect to Server or as an alternate method:
    • With Finder open simply press Command (Cmdr) + K on your keyboard.
  4. Connect to the S:// drive by entering the following server address:
    • ​cifs://gravel.trentu.ca/vol1
  5. Click Connect
  6. Connect as: "Registered User" when prompted
  7. Enter your Trent credentials: myTrent username and myTrent password
  8. A Finder window will open to the shared folder.
