Enable Encryption on iOS Devices - iPad, iPhone

The iOS operating system that powers popular Apple mobile devices such as iPad and iPhones has a built in encryption feature to allow you to secure sensitive data stored on the device. This tutorial will guide you through the process of enabling device encryption on an Apple mobile device.

  • Go to the settings menu of your iPhone or iPad by touching the settings icon
  • Scroll to the Touch ID & Passcode option and press it

  • Turn on Passcode and enter a secure password

  • Enabling a secure password will automatically enable device encryption. This can be verified by seeing the text "Data Protection is Enabled" on the passcode menu
