Connecting to RezNet
Via Wireless :
There are two wireless networks in residence:
Reznet: To be used by students living in residence. This is a secured network with full internet access.
Reznet-Guest: To be used by students visiting friends who live in residence. This network is not secure and permits web traffic at a reduced speed.
How to connect to RezNet
Scan or click on the QR code or link below, answer the configuration prompts using the drop-down buttons (country, institution, user group (service) you wish to connect to (eduroam OR RezNet), and your particular device).
It will identify the correct installer. Download the installer and follow the next set of prompts to complete the setup.
Note : This section is not applicable to gaming or streaming devices - for example; Chromecast and Xbox. Please see the Gaming User Guide for connecting with those devices via wifi.
Via Wired Ports
In your room, you will have either a network jack on the wall (left photo), or a wireless access point (center and right photos) to plug in to :
Please plug your Laptop/Desktop/Gaming Device into either the jack in the wall, or ENET1 location on the wireless access point. Ensure you are not plugging into the ‘PassThrough’ port.
There is no further setup required.
If your computer or device was on when plugging in, you may have to restart before it connects.
Note : Do not plug in wired or wireless routers. As well, printers can only be used via USB in residence. They won’t work if plugged into the jack or wireless access point, and if you run them in wireless mode it will interfere with RezNet for yourself and all the students around you.
IT does not place any restrictions on what devices you may use on RezNet, as long as it doesn't interfere with any other users of the network. However, we are only able to provide "best effort" support which means that connection issues related to other devices can be supported only as time and resources allow. Frequently Asked Questions
Why am I getting dropped/slow connections?
Wireless coverage will never be perfect, but we try hard to provide a reliable signal in all residence rooms. If you are having trouble staying connected, please let us know using the QR code posted in your room or via this form so we can take a look for you.
Can I use my own wireless router?
Sorry, this is not permitted on RezNet, as they cause interference and slow down the network for others. Please note: We will shut down your wired port if we detect a wireless router on it.
What are the bandwidth limits?
Speed is limited to 20M up/down, but there is no set daily or weekly/monthly quota.
