Imaging is the automated installation of the university’s managed operating system software on new or existing computers.
IT provides desktop and laptop imaging service for Trent-owned standard computers for staff and faculty as well as desktop imaging in IT managed computer labs and classrooms. (Note: since images are hardware specific non-standard computers may not be serviceable).
IT develops, tests and deploys operating software images and distribution tools which provides a standardized operating platform for staff and faculty to access the latest in office productivity and multi-media software.
When a technical problem has rendered a computer inoperable or unreliable staff and faculty can submit an IT Service Request and bring their Trent-owned computer to the Service Desk for re-imaging. The imaging process is an automated software installation function which provides a quick way to completely refresh all software on the computer’s hard drive back to its original “like-new” state returning the machine back to service in very quickly.
