To facilitate Online and Remote Learning, Trent IT is piloting a new service that provides remote access to lab computers located in IT-managed Computing Commons locations.
This service provides secure, remote access to specialized application software used in curriculum, which in some cases may only be available on-campus.
Availability of this pilot is limited to active students enrolled in the summer 2020 academic session and instructors for the courses offered.
A list of application software available in the Computing Commons may be found here:
To align with the University's security initiatives, this service is protected by Multi-factor Authentication (MFA). As such, those wishing to use the Remote Access service must first enroll in MFA.
For User Guides, including the steps to opt-in to Multi-Factor Authentication, and the required app for MacOS, please see the links below.
· Always start a session from the “Remote Computer Access” icon in the myTrent portal.
· An unreliable Internet connection can result in disconnected sessions.
· Maintenance activity may occur between 11:00 PM to 7:00 AM (UTC-4) and can include restarts, which would disconnect a remote session.
· Be sure to save your work often, to either your Trent home drive (H:) or to a drive/folder redirected from your home computer. Do not save data to the local (C:) drive of the remote computer.
