New Network Security Tools
Trent IT is testing a new security service which will help reduce the risk of our users visiting websites that may cause damage to Trent computers or the data they contain while browsing the internet on campus.
This service is called the D-Zone DNS Firewall, and is provided through CIRA, the Canadian domain name registry. It works behind the scenes to filter internet sites known to contain malware or viruses and will direct you to a warning page if you attempt to visit a site that may cause damage to your computer.
This system does not log any information about your browsing activities, and the IT department can only access aggregate statistics on the lookups that pass through this filter.
No action is required on your part to implement this added layer of security.
