Windows 10 Migration

Dear Faculty and Staff,

Trent IT is excited to announce an ongoing project aimed at the introduction of Windows 10 to all IT managed computers. Windows 10, introduced by Microsoft in 2015, is the most up to date operating system on the Microsoft platform. The installation of this version of Windows will bring enhanced productivity to our community, as well as bring our managed machines to the same interface standard as many of the computers available for purchase today. Additional highlights of this undertaking include a streamlined in place upgrade for staff and faculty users, additional security measures aimed at keeping data safe and secure, as well as the introduction of Microsoft Office 2016.

We are currently working on a release schedule for when this upgrade will be in place and we will coordinate the actual migration timing with individual departments.  Our technicians are fine-tuning the process to make it as efficient and seamless as possible.  As updates become available, they will be communicated via subsequent Tech Bulletins.  This project aims to deliver an in-place and minimally disruptive upgrade, leveraging the same technology Microsoft has used to deliver Windows 10 worldwide.

Finally, we have created an FAQ page for Windows 10 which we will also use to post updates. This page can be accessed at Windows 10 FAQ page

If you have any questions about our ongoing efforts to bring Windows 10 to the Trent community, please contact it@trentu.ca

Thank you,
