Tech Bulletin: Password Changes
Good Afternoon All,
In our continued effort to provide a more secure computing environment, I.T. will be implementing stricter password controls starting on Tuesday February 21st, 2017. Effective on that date, passwords for all newly created accounts or password changes must meet the minimal standards of;
- Being at least eight characters long.
- Containing at least one upper case letter.
- Containing at least one number.
Techniques for creating a strong memorable password can be found at:
While we will not be forcing immediate or periodic password changes until a complete password policy is developed, we do encourage all users to change their password to the new standard as soon as possible. You can change your password by using the following instructions:
Finally, we encourage you to take the time to update/complete your profile for the Self-Service Password Reset tool. Updating your profile with an alternate email address and/or a mobile phone number able to receive SMS text messages will allow you to reset your forgotten password in the future without assistance from the IT Service Desk. You will be able to initiate a self-serve password process using your alternate (non-Trent) email provided or your mobile number. You can update/complete your profile by using the following instructions.
Thank you for your attention to this important matter.
Associate Vice President, IT
