Traill College Residence at a Glance

Located in downtown Peterborough, Catharine Parr Traill is one of Trent’s original colleges and is particularly suitable for students interested in English, Canadian Studies, Cultural Studies, and Media Studies, as well as students seeking closer Peterborough community connections. This close-knit campus community is also home to many graduate students.  Undergraduate students reside in our newly renovated spaces at Crawford House and Wallis Hall.

All of Traill's original buildings are named after prominent, local women.  Keeping in this tradition Crawford House is named after celebrated author, poet and national historic person Isabella Valency Crawford who settled in Peterborough in 1869.

Room types available:  Single, double, and triple rooms

Standard room furnishings:  a twin bed; a chair, desk lamp, and large desk; a storage table with two drawers; a bookshelf; an armoire with shelves; internet (included in your residence fees); a telephone jack (phone service is not provided but it is available through a local provider).

Bathrooms: Co-ed, shared with the community.

Other amenities: Junior Common Room, Computer Lab, the Trend restaurant (featuring televisions, games and foosball table), ATM, and a common lounge for residence students.

Residence and dining fees for 2019-2020:

Traditional Single: $7,408 (Residence Fee) + $4,450 (Dining Fee) = $11,858 (Total Fees)
Traditional Double: $6,318 (Residence Fee) + $4,450 (Dining Fee) = $10,768 (Total Fees)
Traditional Triple: $4,550 (Residence Fees) + $4,450 (Dining Fee) = $9,000 (Total Fees)

Wallis Hall Residence at a Glance

Wallis Hall was designed by the famous architect Ron Thom in who was the master planner for Trent University.  It is his only new brick building that he designed for Trent University during the 1960s.  It is named after Katherine Wallis, born in Peterborough in 1860 who gained notoriety as a writer and a sculptor.  Wallis Hall has two sections available for students.  One section has traditional style single and double rooms with common bathrooms and the second section has suites where single or double rooms are available.

Room types available:  Single and double rooms and single and double rooms in a suite.

Standard room furnishings:  a twin bed; a chair, desk lamp, and large desk; a storage table with two drawers; a bookshelf; an armoire with shelves; internet (included in your residence fees); a telephone jack (phone service is not provided but it is available through a local provider).

Bathrooms: Co-ed, shared with the community. Floor-to-ceiling doors for added privacy.  One bathroom per suite.

Living-Learning Community:

Trent/Swansea Law: A community for scholars in the Law & Arts and Law & Business dual degree program who want a holistic study environment that will help them achieve their educational and career goals.

Other amenities: Junior Common Room, Computer Lab, the Trend restaurant (featuring televisions, games and foosball table), ATM, and a common lounge for residence students.
