Returning students are any student that has spent at least one semester at Trent University. Students transferring from other post-secondary institutions should apply through the new student application process.
Application Process for September 2019.
When you can apply
If you are a returning student eligible for residence, you can apply when the residence application opens on March 1, 2019. To be considered for residence, returning students must meet the application requirements below.
How to apply
To apply for a room in residence, please complete the following application requirements:
1. Submit a fully completed residence application on the Housing Services Portal along with the $50 non-refundable residence application fee.
2. Submit a $500 residence deposit.
Payments. Residence application fee and application deposits are only taken through the Housing Portal when you apply and cannot be made to your student account.
The 2019 Residence Application will be available on the Housing Services Portal beginning on March 1 at 12pm. You will log into the portal using your myTrent login and password. The returning student application closes on March 31, 2019.

If you are requesting individualized accessibility & unique needs in residence due to medical, disability or religious needs please complete the accessibility & unique needs in residence request form in the application process and refer to the accessibility & unique needs in residence website for additional information.
If you are applying for a living learning community.
If you are applying for a living learning community your application will be reviewed and you will be notified if you have been selected. If you are selected your living learning community preference will supersede all other preferences, including room type and/or location preference. In addition, if you have selected a roommate in the application, you both must have been accepted into the living learning community to be able to live together. When you’ll hear back from us.
If you are a student who has submitted an accessibility & unique needs in residence request form and supporting documentation and have been approved by Housing Services, you will receive a letter with a room assignment on June 26, 2019.
How does it work with roommates?
When you complete your residence application, you may request a roommate in the roommate matching section of the residence application. Your requested roommate must be eligible for residence and confirm the request in order for you to be connected in the application system.
If you have applied and are accepted into a living-learning community and want to live with a requested roommate, you both must have been accepted for the community to be able to live together.
Wondering what would happen if you changed your mind about living in residence?
If you cancel or decline our offer by July 31, 2019, at 4 pm, you will receive a deposit refund of $350.
If you cancel or decline our offer after July 31, 2019, at 4 pm, you will forfeit your $500 deposit.
If you choose to withdraw from residence on or after Move-In Day, you will be bound by the withdrawal processes outlined in the residence agreement.
