Trent-Swansea Law Living Learning Community

Trent-Swansea Law Living Learning Community logo

In Peterborough, all law dual degree students call Traill College home. More than just classrooms and residence spaces for law students, the Traill experience brings the study of law to life. The Trent-Swansea Law learning community is designated for students of the Law-Arts or Law-Business dual degree programs, with the goal to establish their cohort and support one another while studying at Trent University and abroad at Swansea University. Applicants to the Trent-Swansea Law Living Learning Community must be enrolled in the Trent-Swansea Law Arts/Business dual degree program to live in the Traill Law Community (TLC).

What to expect while living in this Residence Learning Community

  • Opportunities to connect with Faculty and Staff from the Trent-Swansea Law dual degree program outside of the classroom through facilitated Mock Trials in the Law Lab in Bagnani Hall at Traill College, Flawed Film/Television series discussions, and so much more
  • Course based support workshops in residence from Faculty, Academic Skills and Academic Advising
  • Visiting Lawyers in Residence hosted by Traill College and the Trent-Swansea Law program
  • Prepare for and participate on the Trent team for the Annual Osgoode Cup Mooting Competition
  • Prepare for International Study at Swansea University with your cohort
  • Collaborations with the Forensics Living Learning Community on Mock Trials and visiting/touring the local courtroom
  • Connect with Upper-Year Students through your Living Learning Community Don and the Law and Arts/B.B.A. Society

“One of the key benefits to consider would be the interconnected nature of the community.  Because the students within the Trent Swansea Law LLC are expected to spend the next six years with each other while traveling to Wales, forming connections with each other and acting as a community serves as a useful tool.  Whether that is providing support in classes that they may share or even acting as a reminder of home when traveling abroad.  The Law LLC has always been a close community from year to year where oftentimes you can make some of your closest and longest-lasting friendships.”

- Simon, second-year Trent-Swansea Law Arts/B.B.A student and Living Learning Community Don, 2020-2021.
