Defining Excellence in Mentorship
- Date: Tuesday, February 7, 2023 - 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM
Building: BL
Room: 411
The relationship between graduate mentors and their mentees can be transformative; it can also be challenging. Join some of the finalists and recipients of the 2021-2022 School of Graduate Studies Awards for Outstanding Graduate Mentorship as they discuss the qualities that define outstanding mentorship and consider strategies for developing strong mentor/mentee relationships. We welcome both graduate faculty and graduate students to this important conversation about mentor/mentee relationships.
Panel members include: Professor Jonathan Bordo (Recipient, SGS Award for Outstanding Graduate Mentorship for Senior Mentors), Professor Margaret Steffler (Finalist, SGS Award for Outstanding Graduate Mentorship for Senior Mentors) and Professor Wesley Burr (SGS Award for Outstanding Graduate Mentorship for New Mentors). Professor Fergal O'Hagan, Associate Dean (acting) Teaching and Learning, will moderate the discussion.
Format: Hyflex (in-person in BL 411 as well as remote via Zoom)
