New Innovation Cluster Partnership Creates Employment Opportunities for Trent Grads
A new graduate program launched by the Innovation Cluster in partnership with Trent University and Fleming College is opening even more doors to employment opportunities for Trent and Fleming alumni.
Beginning March 2018, the Innovation Cluster will begin offering free office space for graduates of Trent and Fleming that are hired by Innovation Cluster start-ups. Businesses that successfully apply to the program will receive an incentive that waves the monthly fee of one-hundred dollars per desk space per employee that start-up founders currently pay. The goal is to promote the growth of entrepreneurship, employment, and student opportunities in Peterborough and is a model that few incubators have championed.
“This is a wonderful opportunity for students and will promote Trent University graduates to enter careers that help foster innovation and entrepreneurship in Peterborough,” said John Knight, manager of corporate research relationships at Trent University, noting that this partnership is a further addition to Trent’s rich ecosystem of entrepreneurship and innovation.
This partnership will add to the long list success stories of Trent alumni, including recent Computer Science and Marketing and Entrepreneurship graduate, Andrew Revoy, who landed the role of senior project manager at Kavtek, a start-up company based out of the Innovation Cluster, shortly after graduating from Trent. Mr. Revoy says it is the education he received at Trent that helped him prepare for his career success.
“My degree in Computer Science gave me valuable skills which helped me stand out and the Marketing and Entrepreneurship postgraduate certificate gave me the tools and an internship which allowed me to get started in my new career.”
