Welcome to Trent University Summer 2021 | Your Next Steps
Dear applicants for Trent summer programs,
As always, warm greetings from Trent University and we hope this message finds you well.
As you prepare to attend Trent University, we recognize that you may have new questions in light of the current global situation. Trent University continues to make every possible effort to deliver academic programs and student support services throughout this period of disruption. Our commitment to you is paramount. Below you will find a list of FAQ which we hope you will find useful:
Can I start my studies this summer?
Yes, with some modifications. As a result of the evolving situation surrounding COVID-19, all course delivery is being offered online, and as such, no in-person courses will be offered. You can still choose from a wide range of online course options. For information on summer course offerings, please visit www.trentu.ca/summer.
Course Registration is Now Open. Learn more about how to register.
I have an admission offer for summer session, what are my next steps?
We invite you to visit our Admissions Page (Received an Offer OR Accepted an Offer) for your next steps as you prepare for your studies at Trent University.
Do I need a study permit to start taking on-line courses?
Yes. You will begin your studies as an online learner with the transition to studying in Canada at the earliest opportunity. As such, you must apply for a study permit and receive approval from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC). The actual study permit will be issued once borders reopen and you arrive in Canada to commence your classes in person.
I have applied for a study permit and am waiting for a decision. Can I enroll in on-line courses?
No, as your program of study is defined as an in-person program with some online components, your study permit application must be approved by IRCC before you can enroll in on-line or in-person classes.
In the event that I can't come to Canada to continue my studies in September due to the COVID-19 situation, what are my options?
While we are hopeful that September classes will proceed as planned, in the event that you are unable to come to Canada, you will have many online course options available, or you can defer your in-Canada studies to the Winter term (see below). Please note that a list of Fall 2020 and Winter 2021 course offerings will be available in June.
Is it possible to defer my admission to the next session - Fall, September 2020?
Yes, you are welcome to submit a deferral request via MyTrent, International Admissions Offer Deferral Request Form, available under Academics, Admissions.
Where can I get updates on COVID 19 and what is happening at Trent?
We are monitoring the situation on developments amid COVID 19 on a regular basis and you can find updates on our website
