Media Studies (Co-op Available)

Earn credit for “doing” as well as “thinking,” as you gain hands-on experience fabricating 3D-printed objects, bending circuits, shooting on 16mm film, building VR experiences, and working in our Critical Making Studio.

Media dominate our world and shape our perceptions of reality. In this popular program, students navigate and engage with the theory, principles and practices that shape our ever-changing media landscape. In Media Studies, you’ll examine the influence of advertising and ideology, the political economy of media corporations, the foundations of media arts, and the ecological impact of media technologies. You’ll also benefit from our interdisciplinary curriculum, learning across subjects from the arts and sciences.

Earn your Master’s degree in Cultural Studies within one year of graduation from your honours B.A.

  • Gain hands-on experience that will have you rethinking your relationship with your devices by using technologies like augmented reality, virtual reality, digital mapping, and 3D printing
